What is Punctuation?
Punctuation is the use of special symbols in writing to help readers understand how to read the sentences. It helps us know when to pause, when to ask a question, and when to end a thought.

Key Punctuation Marks:

  1. Period (.)
    • Use: To end a sentence that makes a statement.
    • Example: “The cat is sleeping.”
  2. Comma (,)
    • Use: To separate items in a list or to add a pause in a sentence.
    • Example: “I like apples, oranges, and bananas.”
  3. Question Mark (?)
    • Use: To end a sentence that asks a question.
    • Example: “What is your favorite color?”
  4. Apostrophe (‘)
    • Use: To show possession or to create contractions.
    • Example: “That is Sara’s book.” or “It’s a sunny day.”
